Last summer, we launched Seas the Summer as a way to bring people together on the Moss Landing waterfront—and nearly 1,200 people joined us for art, science, tours of the Western Flyer, and time with our neighbors and community partners.
So, back by popular demand, we’re doing it again!
Every Saturday and Sunday from August 1 through September 6, join us in Moss Landing for a rotating mix of art, science, local artists and vendors, tours, and opportunities to explore the incredible work happening right here in our community.
Saturdays will feature a different free hands-on activity each week—from exploring plankton and building boats to making seaweed bookmarks, Gyotaku fish prints, and cyanotypes. We’re also adding a free Saturday seminar series aboard the docked Western Flyer, with local experts sharing stories about science, history, and art. The seminar series is first come, first served, with limited seating. You can sign up in person at our outreach booth during the Saturday event.
Sundays will feature free docked tours of the historic Western Flyer, along with tours of Sunflower Star Laboratory, outreach tables, and local art vendors. No need to sign up ahead of time; docked tours for the Western Flyer will be running until 2:30 pm every Sunday. And on August 30, we’ll be joined by the Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust and Moss Landing Marine Labs in collaboration with Woodward Marine Market for a special free uni tasting.
We’re excited to once again team up with our neighbors at Sunflower Star Laboratory and Monterey Bay Eco Tours, along with the Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust and other local partners who make Moss Landing such a special place.
